The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ogun West Senatorial District, held its largest and most highly anticipated awards event on Friday, 8th November, celebrating the outstanding achievements of young people in Ogun West Senatorial District. Hosted at the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, the event brought together a record-breaking audience, establishing itself as the district’s biggest youth awards ceremony yet.
The venue was filled with young achievers, youth leaders, dignitaries, and community members who gathered to recognize the positive contributions of youth across various fields, including education, entrepreneurship, technology and community service. The award, lauded for its impressive turnout, served as a powerful reminder of the youth council’s commitment to empowering and recognizing the immense potential within the district.
The evening kicked off with an inspiring keynote address titled “Youth Engagement and Good Governance: The Quest for Comprehensive Development of Ogun West” by Oladoyin Fausat Olatunji, emphasizing the crucial role of youth in driving sustainable development and community transformation. Following this, the award presentations began, with dozens of young men and women honoured for their dedication, talent, and impact on society. Recipients, drawn from all five local government areas of the senatorial district, represented the best of Ogun West’s vibrant youth population. Political leaders from the district were also awarded for their outstanding contribution to Ogun West.
In his remarks, the Vice Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ogun West Senatorial District, Comr. Kehinde Damilola Olorunjubelo expressed pride in the achievements of young people in the district, urging them to continue their efforts in community development and self-improvement. He highlighted the council’s commitment to supporting initiatives that foster youth engagement, skills development, and economic empowerment.
The event also featured a special performance by the Ajangbode group from Ipokia, adding to the celebration’s spirited atmosphere. Attendees described the evening as “inspiring,” “unifying,” and “empowering,” with many expressing optimism about the future contributions of the district’s youth.
Engr. Jamiu Ogundele and Alhaji Olumide Tijani were two notable awardees lauded for their immense contribution to the youth council. Other awardees present were representatives of Hon. Tunji Akinosi, Hon. Gboyega Isiaka and Rt Hon. Abiodun Akinlade, Members House of Representatives from Ogun West. Others were Dr Isiaq Kunle Salako, Minister of State for Health; Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju-Awoso, Yewa North I State Constituency; Hon. Bisi Oyedele Citiside, Ipokia State Constituency; Hon. Haruna Egungbohun, Yewa North II State Constituency; Hon.
