I dedicate this article to all young minds out there making a difference. Nigeria is in a real mess! Standing for something in a country with misplaced priorities is not easy. Caveat! I’m not referring to those who sit, whine and discuss the A-Z of challenges facing the Nigerian state.
Hashtags don’t get much done! Rather, I’m appreciating those who think about possible solution and do something about it. It is so easy to get distracted considering the premium placed on vices that bring quick cash. Sadly, these vices have been normalized. I appreciate your commitment to making a difference.
“Nigerian youths aren’t ready to lead.” I’ve heard it several times. You can’t play down the advocacy for youths in governance because of the incompetent and corrupt ones among us. I find it extremely infuriating when people conclude that we aren’t ready. But I blame them not! Truth is, youth in governance doesn’t automatically guarantee good governance.
We’ve got so much to do! The societal value system is fast collapsing. Vices that bring money have become virtues. Our moral judgment has been commercialized. Patriotism has been hospitalized. Those leading the change Nigeria needs are few. Our leaders have failed us! But we don’t have to fail the country.
Keep at it! Nigeria depends on you. It’s a lifetime burden!
Talk. Do more! Win the bad eggs over. Lead the change!
