Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, has returned to Abuja after a two-week absence abroad. Tinubu’s arrival at his official residence in the Aso Rock Villa was confirmed in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to a tweet from Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President and his aides were scheduled to return from Europe on Tuesday evening.
Tinubu embarked on his journey two weeks ago, departing Abuja on April 23, 2024, for The Netherlands for a three-day official visit upon an invitation from Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte. During his stay in the Netherlands, Tinubu participated in the Nigerian-Dutch Business and Investment Forum and held meetings with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima.
Following his visit to the Netherlands, Tinubu traveled to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to attend a World Economic Forum Special Meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development from April 28 to 29. After the summit, he proceeded to London for a private visit, with sources confirming his intended return last weekend.
This marks Tinubu’s 20th foreign trip since taking office last May, totaling 96 days abroad. His visits have included destinations such as Paris, London, Bissau, Nairobi, New Delhi, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, New York, Berlin, Addis Ababa, Dakar, Doha, and The Hague.
