Following a protracted negotiation meeting in Abuja, the national minimum wage tripartite committee unveiled new figures, with the Federal Government and organized private sector offering N62,000, while organized labor reduced its demand to N250,000 from the previous figure of N497,000.
Imo Governor Hope Uzodinma, speaking on behalf of Nigerian governors, announced the developments, expressing optimism about imminent closure. He emphasized the collaborative effort of the tripartite committee, comprising the government, organized private sector, and organized labor, in reaching an agreement.
Uzodinma highlighted the significance of dialogue in easing national tension and ensuring governmental and societal operations proceed smoothly.
TUC President Comrade Festus Osifo reiterated the differing stances, with the OPS and Federal Government backing N62,000, while labor advocates for N250,000, citing economic hardships.
Chairman of the tripartite committee, Goni Aji, underscored the collaborative process and the recommendation’s basis on economic factors, expressing gratitude for the harmonious resolution facilitated by key stakeholders.
